Just Pass The Test

Trials have a way of pressing you forward in ways that you would never have moved in without them. In the desert, there is little room for debate. It is “sink or swim,” do (the Word) or die. When the attacks on your life get violent, so must be your faith. Learn to lay hold of Gods promises aggressively and proactively. If you don’t press into the Word, you risk going under!

The desert is not a place for compromise. The choice is simple: You can either learn God’s ways and live, or you can murmur and complain and eventually die in the wilderness, as we have seen.

Compromise is accepting what you don’t believe because you refuse to stand up for what you do believe.

Your position on what you do believe will be thoroughly tested in the wilderness time of your life. Will you stand for the Kingdom of God, even when it is unpopular, when it seems that just about everyone in the office or the family is talking about you?

Will you compromise your standards under pressure?

Guard Your Heart

The soul is your THINKING, your WILL (the place where you make decisions) and your EMOTIONS.

Your soul is designed to work like a computer. Whatever you put in is whatever will come out. This is a simple principle. The soul receives thoughts, images, words and concepts through the gates of your eyes and ears. Once these data are stored, they make up what you will consider as «real.» This is the material your inner computer will be working with.

To gain control over your life you must control what goes into your soul by the access routes or gates. You need to check constantly, every moment of every day, what will go into your soul through your eyes and ears.

Isn’t it refreshing to know that no outside force can overpower you unless YOU allow it and give it access? YOU are the authority to decide what will go in. YOU are in charge of your soul and thus over who or what rules your life.

However, to casually read this and agree with it will NOT be enough. Life responds to ACTION, not to good intentions or theoretical concepts. I believe this is why so-called action movies with well-muscled heroes are so popular. They seem to remind us who we can be if we just decided to use our spiritual muscle and ACT instead of nodding a yes, staying on the sofa and postponing the ACTION to some day in the future.

Life is a series of choices. Your soul is the place where those choices are made. Did you know that your thoughts will decide whether you manifest life or death?

Your thoughts determine your choices. Then you speak based on these decisions. When you give voice to your thoughts, the decision whether a situation will lead to life or death is made and propels events and circumstances into motion.

Keep your heart. Guard your soul with great care. Whatever you focus your thinking on controls your soul. Whatever has authority over your soul will have authority over your life.

Your soul is the field where the battle for your destiny is won or lost.

Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Prov 4.23

Will He Find Faith In The Earth?

William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, once said: «The chief danger of the 20th century will be religion without the Holy Spirit, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and Heaven without hell.»

It has often been said that we are only one generation away from paganism. Now we seem to be closer to this truth than ever.

Times are urgent. If we do no-thing, the result will be NO THING.

When the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?
Luke 18.8

[think] My God Is Bigger

Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
Ps 91:9-10

I have settled this once and for all: MY GOD IS BIGGER.

If you face a situation or circumstance that is looking bigger than you are able to handle you can be sure that it is a fruit on Satan’s tree of lies and deception. If you agree that the situation is bigger than you, you are thinking contrary to God’s word and thus you give Satan authority and a legal right to overpower you with this circumstance.

The circumstance in itself can NOT overpower you.

As Israel faced Jericho, the people were told not to say a word, but simply to march. These faithful believers didn’t whisper to themselves, Help me to believe, Lord. I so want to believe. No, they were focused on the one thing God asked of them: to obey his Word and go forward.

That is faith. It means setting your heart to obey all that is written in God’s Word, without questioning it or taking it lightly.

God is the MOST HIGH. No one and nothing can be higher than Him. Period.

[think] Wake UP!

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Eph 5:14-16)

What does this verse tell us about the conditions necessary to receive light?

First, there is the diagnosis: ...you are sleeping.
Then, the remedy: AWAKE.
From this follows that you must get active and arise.

According to Webster’s dictionary, to ARISE means:

to ascend, mount up or move to a higher place;
to emerge from below the horizon (like the rising sun);
to get out of bed;
to leave the place or state of rest;
to leave a sitting or lying posture;
to begin, to spring up; to originate
to revive from death; to leave the grave;
(figuratively) to wake from a state of sin and stupidity;
to repent;
to begin to act;
to exert power;
to move from a state of inaction;
to appear or become known;
to become visible, sensible or operative;
to be put in motion;
to emerge from poverty, depression or distress.

There is a lot of wisdom in these words. Check for yourself how you are going to ARISE today.

Salt Makes Flavour Come Alive (Salt-2)

I got an interesting feedback to the first episode of the SALT series. A lady from Brazil wrote: «I loved this message. In Brazil we say - ela é sem sal, she has no salt – when people act as if they were dead or walk through life totally bored. You really hit the mark!»

Salt seasons. It makes flavour come alive. What flavours do you see come alive in your own life and in the lives of people around you every day?

Fact is, many people live bland, unexciting lives. Their days are without flavour, there is no colour in their dreams. This is why multitudes are hunting for the ultimate «kick» in so many different, and often misleading, ways. What they really need is--SALT!

The people of the Kingdom must be different. We are the salt of the earth, the Scripture says. Too often, however, it may look more like «the bland leading the bland.»

Our mission is to flavour the earth. There should be something about every Kingdom person that is totally exciting. After all, we are called to represent the King of kings, and He is the most exciting Person in the universe!

ACTION POINT
What flavour can you add to your own life? What good, exciting, innovative and creative things can you add to someone else’s life? Do people realise that the Kingdom life is vibrant and colourful just by looking at your life?

Can that which has no taste be eaten without salt?
Job 6.6

11-11-11 (Part 1-Travel Light)

We are in a season of transit. Many are sensing that change is looming ahead, both in their individual lives and on the global stage.

We are facing a DOOR (or gate) or window of opportunity in the spirit. This is where the warfare is taking place, hence the intense pressure many are experiencing or have been experiencing over the past weeks and months. Those who are willing and have adequately prepared themselves will be able to cross over to the other side, into the Promised Land.

The Lord has shown me several things regarding this door and the TRANSIT into new things. There has been much prophetic confirmation of the importance of this date.

REPACK YOUR BAGS AND TRAVEL LIGHT
We are at a juncture, individually and collectively. This is the hour of transition and change. This whole season of the year 2011 has been about transition, and it is coming to a climax.

Your situation may seem like it is the "end of the road." Keep moving, even if you see no (natural) sign of improvement or change. Change may not happen on the date itself.

You may feel weary and exhausted, but you must keep moving on. The Lord is calling you to move forward with strength and determination. A juncture is a place of transit, usually a narrow place. To cross over into your new life, you may need to unpack your bags. They must be emptied of all those things from the past (literal baggage, or ways of thinking/emotional patterns that need to be chucked) that no longer belong with you on this trip. Repack your bags and travel light. The lighter your bags, the swifter the transit will be.

When the Israelites crossed over the Jordan to possess the Promised Land, they journeyed into the unknown. "For you have not passed this way before." (Joshua 3:4) There are new ways and vistas ahead.

TRANSITION
In scripture, 11 is often linked with transition. Before the first Pentecost, there were 11 apostles (Mat 28:16, Mark 16:14). At one point they came together to choose a replacement for Judas, who had killed himself.

"And they prayed and said, You, Lord, knower of all hearts, show which one You chose from these two, to take the share of this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell, to go to his own place. And they gave forth their lots. And the lot fell upon Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles." (Acts 1:24-26) The next thing we know is that the Holy Spirit fell on the Day of Pentecost and the church was born.

Matthias was designed to "become a witness with us of His resurrection" (Acts 1:22) and to "take the share of this ministry and apostleship" (Acts 1:25). This season is linked with new assignments and a share in Kingdom government and responsibility.

The other day, as I was studying this out, I heard the Lord say: "What is coming is greater than what has been. You will be going into scenarios and places where, without you, the thing will not be complete."

OPEN DOOR
One prophet recently sent me a report where he saw an open door to freedom in the heavenlies. He also saw a vision of huge basement warehouses without windows, where multitudes of people were worshipping. Now the door is open and they will come out of hiding.

This is the due season for many who have felt like they are "hidden away." Actually, they have been prepared for this season that is coming, and they will be seen and heard in public places and in the media. They have been waiting quietly, patiently, prayerfully, fervently and sacrificially for their turn. The Lord is about to release them into their destiny.

BE READY
Be ready for change.
Be ready to move at a moment's notice.
The day of change is upon you.
Ready yourself to move quickly (remember to travel light and repack your "bags.")

Certain things will end suddenly.
New ways will open and begin suddenly.
Be ready to  move into the next place.
The time of advancement and "suddenly" is upon you.
Keep the lamp (the Word) ready.

11-11-11 (Part 2-Ford Over Into Your Destiny)

We are at a spiritual ford, a point of transit. Those who have made themselves ready will transition or “ford” into their destiny.

I did a little research on the term “ford” in Webster’s dictionary.

FORD, n.
1. A place in a river or other water, where it may be passed by man or beast on foot, or by wading.
2. A stream; a current.

FORD, v.t.
To pass or cross a river or other water by treading or walking on the bottom; to pass through water by wading; to wade through.

The old Hebrew word for “ford” casts more light on the matter.

In Judges 3:28, for example, we read: And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the FORDS of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.

The term “ford” here used (and also in many other instances where we find the English term to pass over, to pass, or cross over) is ma’abar in Hebrew, literally “a crossing place (of a river, a ford; of a mountain, a pass); abstractly a transit, ford, place where, pass, passage.”

This term is derived from the Hebrew root word “abar.”'

Here, we find a whole list of themes that are compacted into this word: “…to cross over; used very widely of any transition (literally or figuratively; transitively, intransitively, intensively or causatively); beyond, bring (over, through), carry over, (over-) come (on, over), conduct (over), convey over, …deliver, …enter, escape, …get over, (make) go (away, beyond, by, forth, his way, in, on, over, through), …(cause to, give, make to, over) pass (-age, along, away, beyond, by, -enger, on, out, over, through), (cause to, make) + proclaim (-amation), …send over, set apart (etc)”

A bible commentary notes that what is called here the fords was doubtless the place where the Israelites had passed Jordan when they (under Joshua) took possession of the Promised Land.

(Further scriptures dealing with fords are: Jdg 12:5-6; Joshua 2:7; Gen 32:22)

SHIFT—WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
So, we are in a season of major shifts. But what does shift really mean?

Many have been experiencing a shift over the past weeks, months and even years and are now sensing that they are transiting into a new season in their lives.

We have also seen shifts on the global scale—shifts of financial landscapes in world economy, shifts of whole nations and their economies (Greece, Italy, Eurozone crisis) and shifts in the earth under us as we are experiencing a drastically increased frequency of earthquakes around the world, the most dramatic being the historic 11-3-11 earthquake in Japan earlier this year. The earth has been "shifted" off its axis.

Through current events and shakings, the Spirit of the Lord is thundering from Heaven, saying, It is time to shift! The windows, doors and gates of Heaven are bursting open. The Lord desires to pour His glory over all the earth in this final hour at the end of the Age.

As all things that can be shaken are being shaken (Hebr 12:26), the key word is CHANGE. We are fast approaching the tipping point—the point of no return. This is the moment of crisis, the “end of the road.” Great pressure has been building up behind the scenes and the momentum has reached a point where there pressure must be released, spilling out into the open and causing irreversible change.

The people of God are called to make a shift. It may not happen exactly on 11-11-11, but we are clearly in the season where we need to activate our mandate to be movers, shakers and history-makers. We are called to influence.

Yesterday, I had a chat with a lady from the neighbourhood. She knows nothing of prophecy, endtime events or sensitive dates. In fact, she is totally disinterested in those things. Nonetheless, she casually remarked, “I have been feeling all this week that something massive is going on, as if the world is going into a curve, or a big car is turning, or something like that.” She reported strange dreams and was wondering what this was all about.

You see, even people in the world realise that something is stirring, even though they may not have a name for it or know anything about it.

So, how do we go about this shift?

The first thing is to get into agreement with Heaven. This is done through studying the Word. How can we decode and understand God’s messages, individually and corporately, if we don’t speak His language and are not interested in a dialogue with Him? To study the Word is absolutely essential to know Him and to hear His voice.

Many, however, may have an outward appearance of being aligned with Heaven, but it is not real, even though they are using “biblical” vocabulary. If you buy groceries that look good in a jar and the label says “organic,” does that mean this is really organic food? Not necessarily.

Similarly, if biblical language is part of a label, does this mean that there is real spiritual food inside?

We live in an age of confusion, so much so that most people no longer know what is wrong and what is right any more. I know many who are struggling all over the show to discern what is really spiritual and what sounds biblical, but is actually NOT "wholesome food."

[In the ongoing OC-02 ONLINE CLASSROOM series and also in the corresponding materials/OCM manuals I will be writing in detail about the spiritual atmosphere of the endtime and how to get the basics for discerning the times.]

11-11-11 (Part 3-Suddenlies)

DELIVERANCE MAY COME “SUDDENLY”

I had a rhema word about a week ago when the Lord told me that for many, the shift will come “suddenly.” You may find yourself trans-ported from one place in life (or season in life) to another very quickly and suddenly IF you are ready.

This can mean sudden promotion, sudden change of place, position, or perspective, and many other things. It can mean a health shift, a shift in relationships, a shift in finance or favour.

If you are not ready and you have not made the necessary preparations, chances are that the shift may not occur at all. Preparation will make the difference between the thing happening or not happening.

Are you getting ready?
Are systems of success in place?
Is your life, office, house… in order?
Are you positioned to move fast, at a moment’s notice?
Are you packed up and prayed up?

God is a God of order and He will move where things are ready for Him to show up to impact you with His life and power. He wants to be welcomed in!

Prophets have also sent me reports that the following upgrades are waiting for the faithful:
- Gate, access, window of opportunity
- New authority, impact
- New sphere of influence to open up
- Shift in assignments
- Increase, increased anointing
- New vision, fresh strength
- and more

11-11-11 (Part 4-Mathematical Phenomenon)

MATHEMATICAL PHENOMENON and SIGNIFICANCE OF 111

With this date is linked an interesting mathematical phenomenon.

If you take the last two digits of the year you were born, along with the age you will be in 2011, it will always add up to 111.

Example:

------------------------------

Born in 1980                > 80
Age you will be in 2011  > 31

-------------------------------
ALWAYS ADDS UP TO  > 111

Isn’t that interesting?

I believe there are two reasons for the number 1 being so prominent on this date.

One is that the number 1 alerts us to the question of WHO IS NUMBER 1 in our lives—God, or you? Do you really live your life for Him, totally, completely, 100%, or are you living for yourself and your own interests and plans? Is He God or are you “god?” Do you even KNOW what His plans are? Have you studied His Word to find out? Have you made an effort? Are you making an effort every day? Are you lukewarm and coasting along?

A second observation is that in scripture, whenever a number appears or is repeated three times, it is as if three exclamation marks are used in the text. In the natural world, this means "high priority." In the spirit, it is the same.

The meaning of “111” could thus be translated as: “2011!!! Year of Transition!!!” (Pay attention!!! High priority!!!)

All this tells me that there is great emphasis for 2011 being indeed a year of great transition and change for everyone, whether they realise and understand it or not. As one preacher said: Get in, get out or get run over!

This is God’s due season and time to act for His people and all creation.

Yes, things are changing fast, too fast for many. The whole world is shaking. We will find stability only in Him.

And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.
Isa 33:6

W.A.I.T.

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried,
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master so gently said, "Child, you must wait."

"Wait? You say, wait! " my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is Your hand shortened? Or have You not heard?
By Faith, I have asked, and am claiming Your Word.

My future and all to which I can relate
Hangs in the balance, and YOU tell me to WAIT?
I'm needing a 'yes', a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.

And Lord, You promised that if we believe
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry:
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply!

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate
As my Master replied once again, "You must wait."
So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting ... for what?"

He seemed, then, to kneel, and His eyes wept with mine,
And He tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens, and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

All you seek I could give, and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want - But, you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of My love for each saint;
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint.

You'd not learn to see through the clouds of despair;
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there;
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence were all you could see.

You'd never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove;
You'd know that I give and I save... (for a start),
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

The glow of My comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight,
The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.

You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that "My grace is sufficient for thee."
Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss! If I lost what I'm doing in you!

So, be silent, My child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me.
And though oft may My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still, "WAIT."

Spirit, Soul And Body: A Three-In-One Reality

Millions of people all over the world spend their lives wondering who they really are. To understand the original concept of the human being, you need to go back to the story of creation.

The human being was created in three layers or parts – spirit, soul and body. These three layers/parts can be seen as three different realities that are intimately connected and designed to work together in complete harmony as a three-in-one reality. To understand this is absolutely essential in order to grasp your divine mission in life. It is your spirit that connects with God. You were created to commune with Him, i.e. to talk to Him and to hear His voice at all times.

Your spirit (the «inner man» or «spirit man») was originally created to be in charge. He is the true YOU and connects you with the higher life you were created for. He is also connected to the authority of the King. Your spirit man hears from Heaven and knows the great mysteries of life. He has privileged information from the Father.

Your spirit man can grasp the principles of the heavenly life; he has the ability to hear and process the Father’s voice and His instructions and to communicate the mind of God to the soul (i.e. your thinking, will and emotions) and to other people. Then, your soul (in sync with your spirit) tells your physical body and your natural circumstances what to say, feel and do.

Man was never created to operate from his emotions or physical feelings, drives or urges. Your physical body is the «house» (2 Cor 5.1 «our earthly house, this tent») you live in. It connects you with the physical, natural world of the five senses, that is, natural life in the earth realm (the lower life).

As important as this connection may be, however, the physical body was never created to be in charge over the rest of your system (soul, spirit).

…may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless…
1 Thess 5.23

A Brief Self-Test Regarding First Things

The spiritual world is a world of order. As long as things proceed in the right order, life will work the way it should. Today, however, knowledge about the right order of things is fast becoming extinct. We are at a point where things have become so mixed up that many simply do not know what is right and what is wrong any more.

The King and His Kingdom, His agenda, His plans and thoughts (= His Word) must always be first place in our lives. If this order is out of balance, principles are violated and first things are out of order. They must quickly be restored to their proper place before the consequences escalate and judgement is enforced.

A Brief Self-Test Regarding First Things
From God’s perspective, faithfulness means that He and His agenda are top priority at all times. How are you handling the first things first principle?

Test Question 1:
What are you doing with the first hour of your day? Is the first hour used for breakfast, workout or styling? Or do you use this first hour to study His Word and listen to His voice? If God is not your top priority on any given day, you are not completely faithful to Him. Then, you may bow before other lovers. Whatever holds first place with regard to time, rank and order will have governmental impact on the rest of your time.

Test Question 2:
Does the Kingdom hold a place of financial priority for you? Where does your first cheque go? Do the first transactions go to Him and to the work of the Kingdom? Do you give funds to spread the good news of the gospel before anything else is paid? Or do your first payments go to personal payments and your own needs and wants?

Be honest with yourself.  Whatever holds first place in the order of your personal and professional life will determine what happens to the rest, and what results and consequences will follow.

Over the years, I have seen that the answers to the questions in this little test clearly demonstrate where you stand in terms of being faithful to the Kingdom. The reality of your daily life will invariably reveal your loyalty to the King and your true priorities.

The world of the spirit responds to your actions and not to plans, intentions or your theoretical agreement with a good concept.

From a spiritual perspective, only what is done counts as real. It is one thing to mentally agree with the right priority or the principle of first things first and to talk about it or consider it. It is quite another thing to put this into action and to start doing it, which is when your actions will begin to preach louder than your words and to produce results.

The Price Of Progress

To change into another system usually does not come cheap. There is a price to pay in order to progress and live the higher life.

In the modern world we tend to operate in an industrial mindset. Things must happen fast and in microwave-mode, with instant success. The world is trained to demand a quick fix and to think that money can buy everything. I am often asked how quick one can learn Kingdom principles--how long will it take (hours?) and how much will it cost? Well, this mindset will not work in the Kingdom.

The answer lies in our willingness to be retrained to shift from an industrial mindset into an agricultural mode of thinking, which is the Kingdom way. First you sow, then you water, weed, watch, stand, wait. In due time, you will reap a harvest. This takes effort, time and discipline--terms that many are not happy to hear.

I know what price I paid to find and study all this wisdom. It took a lot of effort, courage, discipline and much more over several years of my life. I have worked with Kingdom principles and dynamics on three different continents, in various settings and cultures, and under incredible challenges--from prayer gatherings in the African bush to working with the sick and dying in squatter camps, to studying with modern-day prophets, to teaching seemingly educated Europeans that practicing tarot and palm-reading and talking to the dead does NOT mean that they have a sound spiritual life.

Yes, there is a price to pay. The anointing for progress and for building the Kingdom cannot come easy. It is a privilege, not a chore. The Kingdom is a spiritual system that operates on timeless agricultural principles and defies quick fixes. If you wish to cultivate kingdom soil for a greater and eternal glory you need to learn how to sow seed, be patient and wait while you pray and study.

The earth brings out fruit of itself, first the blade, then the ear, after that the full grain in the ear.
Mark 4.28

Wide Open Door

As the conflict between the two kingdoms escalates, we are seeing more intense spiritual warfare. This is a time when we must fix our eyes on the Door: I am the Door. (John 10:9) Only the Lord can keep us safe and send much needed manna (provision, wisdom, help) to His people in the earth.

I had a situation some months ago where a door played a role. I got off a city bus in a deserted street one cold winter evening, and after I walked for one or two minutes, I looked back and realised that the door of the bus had not shut behind me (it had worked OK with previous passengers).

People were pushing buttons and trying to slam it shut, but it would not close and insistently kept kicking back into an «open door mode.» It looked a little eerie. The bus driver tried his best for maybe 15 minutes, but still the door would not close. Eventually he got exasperated and turned the ignition off, shutting down the whole bus.

I was watching this from a distance. It was night already, and when the lights in the bus got switched on again it looked as if a supernatural torch was pointing at this little scene in the middle of a dark winter night. The driver pushed all the buttons again and finally managed to close the door and then drove off.

As I turned around and walked down the hill in the snow I heard the Lord speak this in my spirit: Behold, I have given before you an open door, and no one can shut it. (Rev 3:8)

I believe there is a prophetic message in all this.

I got an interesting message from an American prophet who had a vision where he was on a platform that was surrounded with many doors. They were not open, but could be opened. Some of us may think that God will open the doors or windows of Heaven automatically for us to receive good things, but this is not the case.

We are the ones that must open the doors in the spirit realm so that Heaven and earth can connect in the challenging days ahead. That is our assignment and authority. We are facing a sensitive window of time, a door of opportunity that allows us to accomplish much and get things done to get the good news out. Night is coming when no man can work.

God will open doors before you if you will listen and act according to His word. He has some new vistas and perspectives for the future that will be breathtaking.

This season may be different. You may not have come this way before. But when the Lord is with you, you can handle any road He brings into your life.

I am listing some useful scriptures on the theme of the open door for further study below:

Rev 3:8 Behold, I have given before you an open door, and no one can shut it.

Mat 7:13-14 Go in through the narrow gate [door], for wide is the gate [door] and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there are who go in through it. Because narrow is the gate [door] and constricted is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Matthew 18:18 Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven.

Matthew 16:19 And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven.

John 1:51 Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see Heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.

Isaiah 22:22 The key of the house of David I will lay on His shoulder; so He shall open, and no one shall shut; and He shall shut, and no one shall open.

Isaiah 45:1-3 Thus says the LORD to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held--to subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, to open before him the double doors, so that the gates will not be shut: "I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, who call you by your name, am the God of Israel."

The Wilderness

Are you tired, worn out and discouraged? Do you feel used, betrayed and beaten down? Are you dealing with hopelessness and despair? Does it seem like hardship is coming at you from every side and you wonder how you are going to survive the next couple of days?

The wilderness is a hard and dry place where life is reduced to the bare minimum. This may (and often does) include a dry stretch with regard to your social life, friends, finance, job and more. Things are dry, scarce and apparently very slow to move, if at all. This may also be a spiritual wilderness, where answers seem to be very slow in coming and God’s promises can look so impossible that you are tempted to throw in the towel and give up.

Don’t do it, don’t give up! There is a bigger plan unfolding here that you may not see as yet, but I can assure you that there will be a victory if you listen to the still small voice of the Lord while you are bravely marching through the desert towards your breakthrough, no matter how long it may take. I was in that dry place for years, I know how you feel. I am writing this book to tell you that I came through, and so will you.

There are various reasons why one can land in the wilderness, such as sin, disobedience, rebellion or ignorance. These are not my issues today.

What I want to talk about is a special time that God is allowing in the wilderness in order to accomplish spiritual growth and to prepare you for great things to come. He is setting the stage for your promotion to becoming a great champion and to receiving rich rewards.

[study] Babylon Basics: The Origin of Babylon (2b)

The builders of Babylon decided that they would do things their own way. What we are seeing on the global scene today is the result of that decision. They went against God's commands and decided to do their own thing. Gen 11:2 says: And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. The word dwelt in Hebrew is yashab, which means to squat, to sit down, to settle down.

Then, they said to one another: Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. (Gen 11:3)

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. (Gen 11:4)

Three things are interesting here. First, the people wanted to build a city. A city at that time had fortified walls and gates, so someone could control who went in and out. The principle at work here is not inclusive, as it should have been according to God’s perspective, but exclusive. This is not about multiplying fruit and sharing it, but about hoarding fruit (stuff) behind walls and locked gates. Can we see the genesis of the spirit of greed at work here?

Second, the people wanted to build a tower whose top may reach unto heaven. This is an image of man’s idea of how to get to Heaven. Man had already fallen from Eden. Now, the people decided to build something that would get them back to the heavenly homeland. This approach completely lacked divine initiative or input, as God was left totally out of the picture. The people did their own thing, which eventually failed. The tower was built, and it was big. For a while, it stood. People probably marvelled about it, and in the course of history famous artists such as Breughel were inspired to paint it. But the original crumbled into the desert sand, never to rise again.

Thousands of years later, some people in Europe decided to take another go at a project that had already proven a miserable failure and rebuilt the Tower of Babel in Strasbourg, France. They patterned it after the original tower in many details. It was inaugurated in the year 2,000 and presently houses the European Parliament. If the builders had read Genesis 11, they might have reconsidered the project. Obviously, spiritually ignorant people were at work. (In Europe, biblical illiteracy is considered perfectly normal.)

A good question is: Why would anyone wish to repeat a historic failure?

Third, the people who first built Babylon aimed to make us a name. Here, we see the birth of the ego: I, me and myself, all wrapped up in one solid package. These people did not want to be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth in order to expand the Garden of Eden to the entire globe, as they had been commanded. All they were interested in was their ego and their name.

One of the many ironies of the story of Babylon is that the names of the first, ill-fated building team never made it to the headlines. Entire books of the Bible were written to number people and to list their names, families, tribes and so on, but the builders of Babylon remain anonymous to this day, except for Nimrod, who is listed as the one who had the original idea (Gen 10:8-10) And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. (In the online dictionary dict.cc «nimrod» is listed as a synonym for «idiot.»)

Babylon, in simple terms, is man’s kingdom and man’s ideas versus God’s kingdom and God’s ideas. Since God is always right, why then would anyone even try to attempt to build something that is working against God’s unchanging and eternal Word?

Even If There Is No Road At All

Years ago, in the early days when I embarked on my life’s journey into the heart of Africa, I did some research and came across a place called Kuruman. This is where David Livingstone started out to single-handedly explore almost all of the then known Africa. Kuruman is a small town bordering on the southern fringes of the great Kalahari desert. It houses a charming cottage known as «Dr Livingstone’s first home in Africa.» Of course, I went to visit. Ever since then, I have been inspired by the grandiose vision of David Livingstone and how that vision conquered so much territory for the Kingdom.

Whenever I share stories about Africa with western people, they say: «I want to have those same things you have. How do I do that?» The answer is simple. If you will do what I did you will get what I got.

Maybe the track that God has laid out for you is not in Africa but in Oslo, New Delhi or Brisbane, who knows. You must be ready to go wherever God sends you and in order to do that, you need to learn how to listen and hear His voice. Many, however, would rather wait until a fax floats down from Heaven spelling out the whole journey of life that the Lord has laid out for them, bullet-point by bullet-point and with all the details listed to cover the next 50 years.

God has a wonderful and exciting destiny for you, tailored to your unique personality and gifting. However, it is impossible to steer a parked car. He won’t reveal the plans of His heart for you unless you start to move and get in gear. For the miracle of your new life to begin to unfold, you must take the first step.

There is an underlying spiritual principle to this. A missionary society wrote to David Livingston and explained that they wanted to send some missionaries to Africa to join him. They asked if he had found any good roads. Livingston wrote back and said that if they had men who would come only if there is a good road, «I don't want them. I want men who will come if they know there is no road at all.»

This wraps up the story of my life for Africa. You must be ready to go wherever the Lord will send you, and that is what I did. And by the way, the similarity of Kuruman (the place) and Keriman (the person) is not a coincidence. Kuruman is not only the place of Dr Livingstone’s first home in Africa and his starting point for exploring the continent, but it also is home to the largest well of fresh water in the southern hemisphere. I still remember marvelling at the spring of crystal-clear water that came gushing forth into lush gardens in the midst of almost total desert. In line with this, the following scripture has become a guiding word for my life:

If you are thirsty, come to Me and drink!  Have faith in Me, and you will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you, just as the Scriptures say.
John 7:37-38 CEV

The Lord My Navigator

The Lord knows the way you need to take, and He knows your destination. His voice is sometimes like a GPS system in a car. You type in the destination, and the GPS starts to talk. The GPS voice tells you what to do when you are a short distance from where you need to turn.

The voice grows more urgent as you get closer to your exit. The system does not give you too much info too early. In case you miss the exit to your destination, the GPS recalculates and suggests another route to your destination.

The Spirit of the Lord is very similar to that. He whispers to us about how to get to where we need to go. His soft voice may be heard through a vision, a dream or a deep, inner knowing. The Spirit then gets stronger as you get closer to the perfect timing to turn.

Even if you should miss it, the Lord is longsuffering and gracious and will give you another chance, recalculating your path on to victory.

Trust His voice and follow Him today.

...the Holy One of Yisra'el… who leads you by the way that you should go.
Isa 48.17

Lukewarm Spirituality

Lukewarm is good temperature for bathwater and soup, but not for your spiritual life.

Many people operate their spiritual lives on the basis of superficial assumptions. This is often a concoction of hear-say, twisted truth and emotional hype. The lukewarm are no threat to the status quo and they blend in with any group that carries the label «spiritual.»

Most simply assume that all manifestations from the spirit world are good. However, not all things that are called spiritual automatically come from the Kingdom of light.

A lot of what is labelled spiritual is actually occult hocus-pocus in a glitzy mantle, which in reality is nothing but dangerous deception packaged in culturally accepted wrapping materials.

The reality of the true Kingdom of God only comes into view when dramatic events such as the historic 11-3-11 disaster in Japan and similar extreme events happen. Then, many begin to realise how fragile their life is on this planet really is and how fast they can be catapulted from the comfort and complacency of everyday life into extreme events or even onto the other side of life and into a spiritual world which they are all too often not really prepared to face.

Extreme events have a way of communicating a clear and urgent message. They pull back the veil. Current idols or whatever has held first place in your life—your job, success, bank account, nice house/car or whatever you have given first place—cannot and will not help you at that point.

So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock.
But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was!
Mat 7:24-27 GNB

Your Past Is History

There are many things you cannot change. You cannot change people. You cannot change your past. But you can change your future. No matter what has happened in the past, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this very moment you have a choice—you can choose to make everything new.

In John 8, there is a story where a woman was brought to the Lord. She had been caught in adultery, in the very act. They made her stand in front of the crowd and said, Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.  In the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women.  Now what do you say?

Have you ever been in an embarassing situation? We all have, one way or the other.

You know what the Lord answered? If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.

Interestingly, everyone walked away and the woman stood where she was. No one had thrown a stone.

So the Lord asked, Woman, where are they?  Has no one condemned you?

No one, sir, she said.

Then neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.

There is a lot to learn from this story.

First, the teachers and onlookers are made to realise that they all have a past.  We all have issues. We all have things that we are dealing with. So stop looking at others and stop judging their lives. Don't pick up that stone. Get your own life in order.

Second, He says to the woman, I do not condemn you.  She is not condemned. What the Lord is saying to the woman in this scene also applies to us:

I am not judging you, go on now, get on with your life, and stop doing ___________ (fill in the blank).

Fact is, our failures can be forgiven. You do not have to invest time and energy in dragging that heavy baggage from the past around any longer.

Make a change today. Ask the Lord for forgiveness and move on.

Your new life is waiting.

The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees brought in a woman who had been caught committing adultery, and they made her stand before them all.
"Teacher," they said to Jesus, "this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.
In our Law Moses commanded that such a woman must be stoned to death. Now, what do you say?"
They said this to trap Jesus, so that they could accuse him. But he bent over and wrote on the ground with his finger.
As they stood there asking him questions, he straightened up and said to them, "Whichever one of you has committed no sin may throw the first stone at her."
Then he bent over again and wrote on the ground.
When they heard this, they all left, one by one, the older ones first. Jesus was left alone, with the woman still standing there.
He straightened up and said to her, "Where are they? Is there no one left to condemn you?"
"No one, sir," she answered. "Well, then," Jesus said, "I do not condemn you either. Go, but do not sin again."
John 8:3-11 GN

Jes 48.17

(Fortsetzung)
